Registering Your Business Through An Agent

With the advance of technology, you can nowadays also choose to register your business online through a number of available agents nationwide.

An agent will act as an intermediary, which means they will register your business on your behalf, at a fee. The fees charged usually differs from one agent to the next, but is usually in the region of a few hundred rands, sometimes more.

Typically, if you decide to register through an agent online, you will be required to complete a form (usually online) to furnish them with the appropriate details regarding the business.

Some agents may also give you the option to purchase a previously registered CC (Close Corporation). These are normally referred to as a "Shelf CC" or "Shelf Close Corporation".

A typical "shelf cc" is normally one that has not been in use before, and the term is derived from the fact that it is available "off the shelf" - hence the term.

The alternative to registering your business through an agent, is to do it yourself
